Plumbing Training

At MPK Electrical, we offer a comprehensive Plumbing Training Program designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required for a successful career in the plumbing industry. Our program is accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) of South Africa. 

Program Structure:

The Plumbing Training Program is structured into multiple phases, combining theoretical instruction with practical, hands-on experience:

Phase 1: Introduction to plumbing systems, safety protocols, and basic tool usage.

Phase 2: Intermediate concepts, including water supply systems, drainage, and venting.

Phase 3: Advanced topics such as complex installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Phase 4: Preparation for the Trade Test, with intensive training to ensure readiness.

Role of a Plumber:

Plumbers are skilled professionals responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining piping systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Their work ensures the safe and efficient delivery of water, gas, and waste disposal systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Reading and interpreting blueprints and building codes.

Installing and repairing pipes, fixtures, and water heaters.

Diagnosing and fixing plumbing issues, including leaks and blockages.

Ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Apprenticeship Program
  • 6 Months – Workshop-based learning
  • 18 Months – On-site practical training
  • 6 Months – Final trade test preparation & gap closure
Trade Test Under ARPL (Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning)
  • 2 Days – ARPL Assessments
  • 3 to 6 Weeks – Trade test preparation
  • 2 to 3 Days – Final trade test assessments
Requirements

Must be 19 years or older
3+ years of work experience
Any of the following qualifications: Grade 9, 10, or 12 / N3, N4, N5, N6
