Program Structure
The Millwright Training Program is divided into structured phases that combine theoretical instruction with practical workplace training:
Phase 1: Electrical Systems Training – Covers the fundamentals of wiring, motor controls, and circuit troubleshooting.
Phase 2: Mechanical Fitting & Machining – Hands-on experience in fitting, machining, and assembling mechanical components.
Phase 3: Fault Diagnosis & Repair – Developing the ability to troubleshoot and fix electrical and mechanical issues in various industrial settings.
Phase 4: Trade Test Preparation – Intensive practical training to ensure students are ready for the trade test.
Role of a Millwright
A Millwright is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heavy industrial machinery and equipment in power plants, factories, and construction sites. Their duties include:
Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical diagrams.
Installing and aligning industrial machinery.
Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults.
Repairing and maintaining manufacturing and processing systems.
Ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
Apprenticeship Program
6 Months – Workshop-based learning.
18 Months – On-site practical training.
6 Months – Final trade test preparation & gap closure.
Trade Test Under ARPL (Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning)
2 Days – ARPL Assessments.
3 to 6 Weeks – Trade test preparation.
2 to 3 Days – Final trade test assessments.
Requirements
Must be 19 years or older.
Minimum of 3 years of work experience.
Any of the following qualifications: Grade 9, 10, or 12 / N3, N4, N5, N6.
