Mechnical Fitter Training
At MPK Electrical, we offer a comprehensive Mechanical Fitter Training Program designed to equip students with the skills necessary to excel in the assembly, installation, maintenance, and testing of complex machinery and mechanisms. Our program is accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) of South Africa.
Program Structure:
The Mechanical Fitter Training Program is divided into three phases, each combining theoretical instruction with practical workplace training:
Phase 1: Focuses on foundational theory and basic practical skills.
Phase 2: Builds upon Phase 1, introducing more advanced concepts and applications.
Phase 3: Prepares students for the Trade Test, with up to 8 weeks dedicated to intensive training.
Role of a Mechanical Fitter:
A Mechanical Fitter is trained and qualified to assemble, install, maintain, and test complex machinery and mechanisms, such as pumps or turbines. They work from detailed drawings or specifications, using hand and machine tools, as well as precision measuring instruments. Mechanical Fitters play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of machinery across various industries.

Apprenticeship Program
- 6 Months – Workshop-based learning
- 18 Months – On-site practical training
- 6 Months – Final trade test preparation & gap closure
Trade Test Under ARPL (Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning)
- 2 Days – ARPL Assessments
- 3 to 6 Weeks – Trade test preparation
- 2 to 3 Days – Final trade test assessments
Requirements
Must be 19 years or older
3+ years of work experience
Any of the following qualifications: Grade 9, 10, or 12 / N3, N4, N5, N6
